The original concepts for MediEvil 2 went through many transformations during development before the Cambridge team finally settled on making a sequel set during the Victorian Gothic revival, largely reminiscent of its predecessor. The game received mostly positive reviews from critics upon release, with praise including slight improvements over its predecessor, such as artificial intelligence and graphical enhancements, but was criticised for lack of innovation from the original.

Il parcourt une vingtaine de niveaux où il doit combattre un squelette de dinosaure, un trio d'éléphants mécanique, un boxeur zombie, un seigneur vampire, Jack l'Éventreur, un démon ainsi que les deux acolytes ennemis qui ont respectivement l'allure d'un chien et d'un lézard.

Aborda la temática fantástica y de terror gótico ya presentes en el primer juego, pero el ambiente medieval se ve sustituido por el steampunk. La aventura transcurre en el siglo XIX, cuando, tras su segunda resurrección, Sir Daniel Fortesque recorre el Londres victoriano contra un nuevo líder maligno. Repitiendo su odisea por nuevos escenarios, tendrá que volver a demostrar su habilidad e ingenio sorteando trampas, recorriendo plataformas, resolviendo rompecabezas y enfrentándose a numerosos enemigos.
