A remake developed by Lizardcube and published by DotEmu, titled Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, was released in April 2017. The game takes place after the events of Wonder Boy in Monster Land, in which Wonder Boy has been cursed by the Mecha Dragon and must locate the Salamander Cross to lift it. The game is nonlinear and features varying landscapes in which players must navigate. Une version remaniée du jeu a aussi été éditée par Hudson Soft sur PC-Engine en 1991 aux États-Unis et au Japon, respectivement sous le nom de Dragon's Curse et Adventure Island (sans lien avec la série du même nom en occident). Il s'agit du quatrième épisode de la série Wonder Boy, du deuxième de la série Monster World et suite directe de Wonder Boy in Monster Land. Un remake développé par Lizardcube et publié par DotEmu, intitulé Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, est sorti en avril 2017 sur Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 et Xbox One et en juin 2017 sur PC. Une version PlayStation 5 a également été mise sur le marché en octobre 2022.
