The first game of the Perfect Dark series, it follows Joanna Dark, an agent of the Carrington Institute research centre, as she attempts to stop an extraterrestrial conspiracy by rival corporation dataDyne. The game features a campaign mode where the player must complete a series of levels to progress through the story, as well as a range of multiplayer options, including a co-operative mode and traditional deathmatch settings with computer-controlled bots. As a spiritual successor to Rare's 1997 first-person shooter GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark shares many features with its predecessor and runs on an upgraded version of its game engine. GoldenEye 007 director Martin Hollis led the game's production for the first fourteen months of its near three-year development cycle before he left Rare to pursue other interests. The game is one of the most technically advanced titles for the Nintendo 64 and requires an Expansion Pak to access the campaign mode and most of the multiplayer features. source: wikipedia_ja『パーフェクトダーク』（Perfect Dark）は、イギリスのレア社（現・Xbox Game Studios）によって開発されたNINTENDO 64用スポーツ系FPSであり、国内では2000年10月21日に任天堂から発売された。プレイには周辺機器である「メモリー拡張パック」の64本体への接続が必須（但し、国内版のみ）で、通常版と同時に同機器同梱パッケージも発売された。頭文字をとって「PD」と略される場合が多い。 2010年3月17日には、北米のXbox Live Arcadeにてリメイク版の配信が開始された。なお北米版は完全日本語ローカライズがされており（一部、誤訳がある。）、海外アカウントを作成すれば日本国内からでもダウンロード可能である。長らく日本国内での配信は未定であったが、2013年10月11日より日本でも配信開始となった。Z指定のため体験版はない。 2024年6月18日には『NINTENDO 64 Nintendo Classics 18+』にてNINTENDO 64版の配信が開始された。
