It is the sixteenth main entry in the Ganbare Goemon series. Unlike most games in the series, this game is actually a role-playing game, a genre which was used first in the Ganbare Goemon Gaiden games for the Famicom. The game also borrows some concepts from the franchise's anime series. The game is set to be re-released in 2026 via the Ganbare Goemon! Daishūgō compilation. The protagonist in the game is a boy named Hajime, who somehow gets transported into a Ganbare Goemon game and teams with Goemon in order to save Japan from the Tengu Party.

A diferencia de la mayoría de los juegos de la serie, este es un juego de rol, un género que se utilizó por primera vez en los juegos de Ganbare Goemon Gaiden para Famicom. El juego también toma prestados algunos conceptos de la serie de anime de la franquicia. El juego se relanzará en 2026 a través de la compilación Ganbare Goemon! Daishūgō.​ El protagonista del juego es un niño llamado Hajime, que de alguna manera es transportado a un juego de Ganbare Goemon y se une a Goemon para salvar a Japón del Partido Tengu.
