A Nintendo DS side-game was released in Japan on December 3, 2009, as Yggdra Unison: Seiken Buyuuden. An updated version with bonus features was released in Japan for mobile platforms and Nintendo Switch in April 2019 and March 2020, respectively. A Windows version was released in early access on February 6, 2023, with a full release following on July 27, 2023, alongside a western release for Nintendo Switch. The game is a tactical RPG with an overhead view of a 2D map, managing miniature versions of the units. A card system dictating unit movement and potential skills plays into both enemy and ally turns, as well as the "Union" formation system, in which massive battles can take place between several platoons. Les deux versions du jeu ont été localisées par Atlus USA en Amérique du Nord et 505 Games a publié la version Game Boy Advance dans quelques pays européens. L'on dénombre trois spin-off de ce jeu, dont aucun n'a quitté le Japon. Le premier est paru sur mobile et Nintendo DS sous le nom de Yggdra Unison: Seiken Buxtehude Japon tandis que le second, qui n'a pas non plus quitté ce pays, est nommé Blaze Union: Story to Reach the Future. Le premier est une sorte de scénario alternatif à Yggdra Union, le second est une préquelle au jeu original. Le troisième spinn-off, Gloria Union, n'a pas de lien scénaristique avec les autres opus.

O jogo possui vários detalhes parecidos com outro game feito pela Sting, Riviera: The Promised Land. O jogo envolve batalhas táticas parecidas com Fire Emblem, com uma vista de cima em um mapa 2D, onde se controla versões em miniatura de suas unidades. Entretanto, o sistema do jogo é totalmente diferente. Cartas são utilizadas em todos os turnos, e é ela que dita seu movimento e possíveis habilidades. É jogada no turno do jogador e do inimigo, da mesma forma que o sistema de "Union" do jogo, onde grandes batalhas podem ser realizadas. Também existem alguns elementos em tempo real durante as batalhas, como por exemplo, controlar como suas unidades atacarão o inimigo.
