All three games are action role-playing games. The first game, Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku, was developed by Webfoot Technologies and released in 2002. The game was followed by two sequels: Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II, released in 2003, and Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury, released in 2004. Buu's Fury was re-released in 2006 as part of a Game Boy Advance two-pack, which includes Dragon Ball GT: Transformation on the same cartridge. In 2016, Webfoot Technologies claimed to be starting development of another sequel.

C’est la suite de Dragon Ball Z : L'Héritage de Goku II pour Game Boy Advance. C’est le troisième volet dans la trilogie L’Héritage de Goku, même si celui-ci ne porte pas le nom de la trilogie. Le jeu suit la saga Boo à partir de l’épisode 195 et se termine à l’épisode 291. Le joueur commence dans la saga du tournoi de l’autre-monde et finit à la saga Petit Boo.
