A Game Boy version was released in 1992 and although it uses the same cover as the original NES game, it is not a port of that version. The Game Boy version was developed by Equilibrium and published by THQ in Europe and the US. It was also released in Japan, where it was published by Altron in 1993. The game is based on the children's cartoon Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: The Animated Series, which itself was based on the movie franchise Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.

source: romu同名のアニメを基にした「キラートマト」では、若きチャド・フィンレッターが邪悪なミュータントトマトを乗り越え、狂ったドクター・プチッド・T・ギャングリーンが彼の終末トマトを解き放つのを阻止するための冒険に出ます。サン・ズッキーニの市民たちは下水道から現れる牙を持った野菜たちに恐れおののいており、チャドはトマトの災厄に立ち向かうために一人で奮闘します。しかし、ドクターは彼を軽視せず、特別なトマト部隊であるゾルタン、ビーフステーキ、ママト、ファング、ケチャック、トマチョを送り込んで彼を阻止しようとします。 このゲームは横スクロールのプラットフォームジャンプゲームで、キラートマトを止める主な方法は彼らの上にジャンプすることです。そうすることで、トマトは潰れたり、逃げたり、より小さなトマトのかけらに変身したりします。エネルギーパワーアップが存在し、チャドの健康を回復させることができます。
