It was released in North America in September 1990 and in Europe by Nintendo on 26 September 1991. The game is the third installment of the Jetman series and was later re-released by Nintendo for their NES-based PlayChoice-10 arcade system in the United States in 1990. In the game, series protagonist Jetman must manoeuvre his small craft through caverns of various planets whilst searching for pieces of the Golden Warpship. The game is presented in a horizontal side-view environment and has ranging gravitational pulls for each planet, which subjects Jetman's craft to various forms of inertia. Similar to its predecessors, Jetman must keep his craft topped up with fuel in order to progress through levels. The game was developed mostly by Mancunian developer Zippo Games under the name of Iota before being ordered to change the game into a Jetman title by Rare. Il a également été publié sur les systèmes d’arcades PlayChoice-10 en 1990 aux États-Unis. C’est le troisième jeu de la série Jetman après Jetpac et Lunar Jetman publiés en 1983 par Ultimate Play the Game. Le joueur y incarne Jetman, un astronaute devant manœuvrer son vaisseau spatial dans les cavernes de différentes planètes afin de retrouver les pièces du Golden Warpship. Le jeu a été en grande partie développé par Zippo Games sous le titre de Iota avant que Rare ne leur impose d’en faire une suite à Jetman. En plus de la version NES, des versions ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 et Atari ST du jeu ont également été développées mais celles-ci n’ont jamais été publiées du fait du faible succès de la version originale. In Europa fu pubblicato in licenza dalla Nintendo, anche allegato in offerta con un'edizione del NES. Uscì anche per il sistema arcade PlayChoice-10 basato sul NES. È il seguito di Lunar Jetman e segue le vicende di Jetman, il protagonista di Jetpac. Anche qui Jetman ha il suo caratteristico jet pack e nell'ambiente sono simulate la gravità e l'inerzia, ma in questo titolo il mezzo di trasporto principale è una navicella con controllo rotatorio, che all'epoca ricordava Gravitar o Thrust. Erano in sviluppo anche conversioni per home computer, almeno Commodore 64 e ZX Spectrum, che nel 1991 avrebbe dovuto pubblicare l'etichetta Storm della The Sales Curve, ma furono annullate a causa delle vendite deludenti dell'originale per NES.
