It was published by Tradewest in North America the same year and the PAL region in 1993. Super Double Dragon is the fourth console game in the Double Dragon series developed by Technōs Japan, following Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones for the NES. The game did not have an arcade release and was made specifically for the home market.\nIn 2018, a slightly enhanced Japanese version, Return of Double Dragon, was re-released by Tommo in Japan and under its Retroism brand in North America. Despite being officially licensed, this release is only guaranteed to work on third-party hardware.\nIn 2023, Arc System Works ported the game to Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. This includes both the original and Japanese (Return of Double Dragon) versions of the game. For unknown reasons, in the Airport Stage (Mission 2), all references to ATI America are removed.","lang":"en","source":"wikipedia_en"}],"first_release_date":"1992-10-16","media":[{"kind":"boxart","url":"https://raw.githubusercontent.com/libretro-thumbnails/Nintendo_-_Super_Nintendo_Entertainment_System/master/Named_Boxarts/Return%20of%20Double%20Dragon%20%28Japan%29%20%28En%29.png","source":"libretro_thumbnails","region":"jp"},{"kind":"titlescreen","url":"https://raw.githubusercontent.com/libretro-thumbnails/Nintendo_-_Super_Nintendo_Entertainment_System/master/Named_Titles/Return%20of%20Double%20Dragon%20%28Japan%29%20%28En%29.png","source":"libretro_thumbnails","region":"jp"},{"kind":"screenshot","url":"https://raw.githubusercontent.com/libretro-thumbnails/Nintendo_-_Super_Nintendo_Entertainment_System/master/Named_Snaps/Return%20of%20Double%20Dragon%20%28Japan%29%20%28En%29.png","source":"libretro_thumbnails","region":"jp"}]}
